There are many tips and tricks that can help save you money and time during the wedding planning process so that your main focus can be looking forward to the happiest day of your life.
According to Brides.com, when planning a wedding, the most important thing is knowing your priorities and allocating the budget accordingly. This is the first step towards saving yourself money in the endgame, because it eliminates impulse purchases and extra time spent on items that aren’t a priority and aren’t covered in the budget.
Once you have your list of priorities and the budget allocated for each item (dress, venue, flowers, photography, bridesmaids’ dresses, etc.), there are many ways to save yourself even more money and also your time, which you know is so important when you’re in the planning phase!
Here are 5 tips to consider when wedding planning:
1. Create a wedding planning website
Creating a wedding planning website will save you time and money as you can use this website for so many different things.
You can add your electronic registry to your wedding website, use it for RSVPs, menu selections and even use it to send digital invitations. This eliminates so much time and money spent towards each of these things individually.
2. Allocate one credit card for the wedding
Let’s face it, weddings are extremely expensive. We all know this and it’s best to plan ahead for paying off your wedding rather than being blindsided when the large bills come later. You can plan for this by allocating one single credit card for your wedding expenses.
This can be a combined credit card for you and your partner or opened in one of your names to make payments towards. This will help save you time when sorting through your wedding expenses and bills later.
3. Compare prices
Don’t settle for the first vendors that pop up during your initial wedding planning vendor search. Compare the prices and you may find some that offer the exact same services for lower. While this may not save much time, it sure will save you money.
If you don’t have the time to do this task, ask your wedding planner or bridal party to help you out. Your bridal party may be thrilled to help with this task!
4. DIY with your bridesmaids
Are there certain aspects of your wedding decor that can be a DIY project? Do you need some help addressing and sending invitations? Maybe you even need some help bedazzling your wedding shoes or selecting your wedding jewelry.
Your bridal party is there to help you, and they’ll be excited to assist with any of these tasks. You can even make a fun craft night or “wedding night” out of it! This will save you time and DIY will save you money on expensive pre-made items.
5. Rent where you can
If you don’t want to be stuck with expensive costs on one-time use purchases for the wedding, rent! You can rent jewelry, bridesmaids dresses, tuxes and even wedding gowns. You can also rent things like decor and, of course, furniture for the venue. If you do buy your wedding gown, you can also rent it out to others once you wear it!
