Your big-day hair and makeup are important, of course, but don’t forget about the other beauty services available in the months, weeks and days leading up to the main event. Follow this timeline for quick, impactful pre-wedding beauty treatments.

3 to 6 Months Out

Plagued by pimples? Talk to your dermatologist ASAP about topical retinoids to help shrink pores and prevent acne, says Dr. Sandy Johnson, of Johnson Dermatology. Johnson also recommends pulsed dye laser treatments to minimize redness and zits. Schedule one session per month for three months, with the last taking place the week before the wedding. If you wake up the day before with a front-and-center blemish, your doctor may be able to give you a quick cortisone shot to reduce swelling.

For a vibrant visage, consider a series of light superficial peels once a month for three months, or do one strong peel if you have a couple weeks to heal and can avoid UV light right after, says Johnson. The results can last for months.

If you want a serious wrinkle reducer, keep in mind that Botox takes two weeks to work, but the results can last two to six months, Johnson says.

1 week to 2 months out

Airbrush tanning is your best bet for a natural faux glow – and you’ll want to schedule your final appointment for two to three days before the wedding – but definitely do a trial run well in advance, says Anni Bruno, owner of NYC Faces. If you’re happy with the final product, make sure you book the same technician.

To add a little extra pizzazz to your peepers, consider fake lashes. Bruno likes to apply a full set of lash clusters on the wedding day using a waterproof lash glue. They’ll last throughout your festivities but come off easily when you’re finally ready to hit the sack.
